NYC applelicious lip balm! *mmuah*

Applelicious Lip Balm
your lips will thank you for buying them this lip balm! i got the "Big Apple Red" shade, which is a sheer red color with a tint of pink. it has kept my lips soft, moist, and smelling good for the duration of a few hours. it does make you need re-apple-cation, but that's the fun of it.

it has a cute apple right dab in the middle, which will never go away until you're reached the bottom of your lip balm. i am really enjoying this lip balm that i might get 2 or 3 more of this in different shades/flavors. A+

it's sheer, semi-glossy, and the smell is not strong like other lip products. it's definitely not sticky nor does it feel heavy on my lips. for only $2.99 you could get the entire set for $29.99 which is around the average price of a high-end lipstick. you can get all 10 shades with fun names like applelicious pink to applelicious plum pie, chocolate apple, caramel apple, pink lady, big apple red, apple blueberry pie, garnet gala, to apple blossom. the key ingredients are: shea butter, jojoba and avocado oil.

from the nyc page:

Big City! Big Apple! Big Care! Need a touch of cushiony sweetness in the daily grind of NYC? Only NYC New York Color could find the city’s soft spot with their new deliciously ‘feel good’ APPLELICIOUS lip balm that will deliver color, shine and moisture in one single swipe! Just like the Big Apple itself it’s juicy, shiny and colorfully loud but also reveals a softer and more caring side. Color is fun and fruity and with a hidden apple core of care it’s also delightfully moist. This ‘oh so cute!’ apple-shaped core reinforces the moisturizing properties of the rest of the balm and gives your lips a healthier look! The apple on the cake? A fruity apple scent that will make your lips irresistibly kissable!

NYC = New York Color Mini Haul!

hola bellas!

i went to rite aid yesterday and saw the yellow sticker that said "40% off all nyc cosmetics." of course, i had to look. this is my new york color mini haul ^_^

this is my first eyeliner marker, yay! at first i was excited to use it, because i've heard that you get more control using a marker with a tip to help guide you make a wing line.. but since my liner applying skills are not precise, i still had a hard time using this eyeliner marker. first off, the color goes on sheer black even though it is in the shade "extra black." secondly, the tip of the marker is so pointy, after retracing the line, it started being a pain to use it over again. my crease line is almost non-existent so the felt tip is somewhat too fat that i ended up looking like i had bruised eyes. what i do like about this marker is that if you are a beginner at applying eyeliner, you can easily wipe any mistakes with a cotton swab.

from nyc's page for this eyeliner:

THE ULTIMATE MISTAKE-PROOF APPLICATION! With NYC’s High Definition Liquid Liner you can forget those messy traditional liquid formulas that require a steady hand. The chic, liquid pen delivers smooth, fast-drying results whether you want a super-thin modern line or a thick, full-blown retro cat-eye flick. And the formula is smudge-proof and long-lasting—up to 10 hours of wear! HIGH GLAM WITH MINIMAL EFFORT. UBER-BLACK PERFECTION IN AN INSTANT!

would i buy this again? probably not. but it is good for beginners. also my biggest peeve about this marker is that the liquid bleeds into the fine lines of my skin. no matter how careful i was, i would have uneven lines. C

i am very sad to say, i was disappointed with this kit. it has confusing packaging, and with me being dumb with make up stuff, i didn't know what to put on first. the grooming wax or the powder, or what. i didn't see any instructions. my only favourite item from this kit, i would say are the mini tweezers. pulling out any stray hairs made my brows look better than using the wax or the brow powder.

from the nyc brow kit:

NYC New York Color Browser Brush-On Brow Powder with Grooming Wax and Tweezers is your complete kit for beautiful brows! Makes the most of your eyebrows... with better than natural results. Long-lasting grooming wax holds hairs neatly in place for all day perfection... powder fills in bare spots... who can ask for more?

this is how my experience went.
the brush applicator is so stiff it hurt my browskin and it dug so deep into the wax and powder, i was afraid that even being too gentle would still add too much product onto the brush. so i had to use one of my other softer brushes. i watched a tutorial on youtube on how to apply this, and first, you need to dip your applicator onto the wax, then to the powder, and apply it to your brows. my brow hairs are thick, so the wax was not a good idea. it looked like i had glued fake eyelashes onto my brows. the horror! the powder color is a true brown, which is good, but it will not adhere to your skin unless you use the wax or water to put it on. in the end, it gave my brows a dirty, "smudgy" look which i wasn't happy about.
in my opinion, this is a very poor brow kit in terms of quality and color. the packaging, the brush, the combo does not make me want to buy it again. i hope nyc cosmetics will improve this kit in time to come. C-

hmm, i'm not very happy with this either. it has a dry, powder finish. it might be the wrong shade on me. i have yellow undertones, and this cover stick seems to go on like a light salmon color on my skin. i don't think it should be applied on its own. it would be better to add liquid foundation or concealer on top of this. it really did not help cover my dark circles or any blemishes i have since it just ended up like i had patches of white powder on my face. C-

thank you for taking the time to read my ramble and reviews, and i hope that you find my thoughts on my nyc mini haul entertaining and a bit informative! and oh yeah, i paid less than $10 for all these! hooray for drug-store brands! ^_~

and if you're wondering about the applelicious lipbalm, that will be in my next post. i am going to rave about it since it is so delicious! it's definitely my favorite from this nyc mini haul. ally<3

NYX "Pink Poppy" Stick Blush

this cream stick blush is just so cute to fit in your cosmetic bag! why? it's small, pink, and sparkly. yes, it contains sparkles. okay now on to the blush itself. it is a creamy stick formula with yellow-gold sparkles.

above photo is the swatch on my arm.

you can build up the color, so it's perfect for all skin tones. nyx describes it as a neutral pink. what could be a down-side is that since it is a stick, you would need to use clean fingers to apply the blush onto your cheeks. as for the sparkles, once the blush dries or wipes off, you're left with sparkles on your face. A-

NYX Pin-Up Tease Mascara

the nyx pin-up tease mascara individual+curl is a wonderful addition to any mascara lovers' collection. just the title itself makes you want to try it on your lashes. it really lifts your lashes to create that sexy pin-up look.

as you see, the wand has a bend that shapes to your eyelashes. the this mascara gives a "push-up" look to your lashes, which gives you instant sexy! all you need is about 1 to 2 coats and you're a pin-up babe!

~my opinion on it critically~
even though this mascara was something i was excited about wearing, i have very sensitive eyes, so i had a difficult time wearing it for a long period of time. especially when i had to remove it, the thick formula would be difficult for me to completely remove. it would flake down to my cheeks as to where i would have problems wiping it off my face. i do like the shape of the wand and the fatness of the bottle, and i also like the bristles. my eyelashes looked like they were combed straight up - which was what i expected.  B+

the nyx pin-up tease mascara is which is one out of five you can choose from from the boudoir mascara collection,. i ordered mine from cherryculture, though you can also buy it direct from nyxcosmetics.com good luck! ^_~

make up palettes: sigma paris palette + thebalm nude 'tude

sigma paris palette - i got this on sale for only $49.00 from the regular $59.00. the colors are so stunning, each one picked out by a beauty guru on youtube who all went to paris to collaborate on this palette. the packaging is just well made by sigma, and the brushes and mirror, along with the blushes make this palette a hard-to-miss item. use code LJW2013 to save 10% off

all eyeshadows have glitter or shimmer. the only matte one is louvre. my favorites from this palette are seine, orsay, and louvre. my least is definitely versailles - the glitter fall out is way too much to handle. overall, pro-colors are beautiful and versatile, and con-too much chunky glitter. i have not yet tried the blushes, but from the reviews given on youtube, they are just as good or even better than the eyeshadows. the brushes and mirror are a bonus for this all around great palette. the design of the packaging makes me just want to grab the palette over and over again and create different looks! ^_^

thebalm nude 'tude - in naughty version, this all purpose eyeshadow palette has colors ranging from white to black. this is one of the main reasons i had to get it, plus the packaging is just so sassy & feminine!

this palette is great for make-up starters to the make-up enthusiasts. it's slim enough to fit in your purse and all 12 eyeshadows are enough for you to create endless make-up looks!

etsy wants: delicate amethyst bow ring

woah hoh! so i was carouselling around etsy, and here this cute purple ring popped out of my screen. it's soo cute and *just my style!* it looks kind of like a butterfly with purple wings and a diamond body. it's so pretty. it's listed for $50.00 and you can choose from size 5 to 8. it's a handmade item from the store 4FireflyCollections and it is made of the following materials: sterling silver, purple amethyst, white cz i will get this ring someday! ahh, i can't wait for black friday so i can splurge on awesome deals and crazy wants such as this cute purple bow ring on etsy! ^_^
